Chicken Parmigiana
Feat: Chicken Parmesan
Location: Tony’s Di Napoli (UES)
Address: 1081 3rd Avenue
New York, NY 10065
AMBIANCE:
Majority of the restaurant (with the exception of the outdoor dining) is located underground, so there is a lack of windows + natural light. However, do not let that be a discouragement. With several decor accents that mimic an Italian wine cellar, you won’t necessarily miss the natural light. They have ample space, and you never feel cramped and/or as if you’re practically sitting on the table next to you.
SERVICE:
In a word, phenomenal! I have been to Tony’s several times, and the experience has always been amazing. From being greeted by the hostess, to the amazing servers, Tony’s does service well. (Shoutout to Jordan, who is my absolute fave!) I have always been here with a reservation, so just a quick disclaimer there. I imagine they DO accommodate walk-ins, but I personally am a reservations type gal.
FOOD:
You simply cannot go wrong with family-style Italian dining. Now, technically, you can order individual entrees here, but I have never dined that way at Tony’s, and have only ever opted for the family-style. (I do also believe there is a limit ie: if you have a certain number of people, family-style is mandatory.) Their dishes are top notch, and taste as though someone’s Italian grandma is slaving away in their kitchen. DEFINITELY save room for dessert though! I’m not even a fan of strawberry shortcake, but it is an ABSOLUTE MUST here!
MENU RECS:
- Rigatoni a la Vodka (typically served w/ mushrooms, but you can request it without)
- Chicken Parmigiana
- Calamari Fritti
- Tony’s Meatballs
- Strawberry Shortcake
NOTES:
They are primarily a family-style restaurant, so if you don’t like sharing, this might not be the place for you. There are several parking garages nearby if you’re driving in.
